Now, this is a local horror movie worth watching. The plot line is good and plausible, the acting’s not so bad, and the ending’s satisfactory.
Almost all of the story focuses on the activites of an all-girl school. Dinda (Adhytia Putri, a model I think), is a nerd who often gets bullied by three of her classmates. One day, after the demise of a teacher, an idealist new teacher (VJ Cathy) comes to replace her. She makes Dinda to sit on a decidedly empty chair (hence the title), breaking the unwritten rule of the school.
After this, all hell breaks loose. Supernatural things start to happen. Dinda experiences the scary visions, her bullying friends get bullied by (the standard) long-hair-put-in-front-of-the-face girl, etc. Together with the new teacher, Dinda investigates what is truly behind the horror.
The scary stuff are really asian standard issue. You know, the standard the ghost is on the ceiling, behind oneself reflections in the mirror, in the bathtub, in the end of long hallway. Nothing’s new.
I’m giving this movie a 3 out of 5.
